He graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1954 and then attended the University of Iowa. Bob proudly served in the National Guard. He married Janice Lefebure and, to this union, four children were born. They later divorced, and on Feb. 23, 1974, he married Beverly (Crowe) Newnum. Bob worked for 38 years at Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1994 as a manager of mechanical design. He was an active member of Springville Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, sang in the church choir, and was the soundman. He also was the chairman of the church expansion committee in 1994. Bob was an accomplished accordion player and played for 19 years with the Iowa Rangers dance band. He was an original member of the Rockwell Collins Men's Chorus and the Rockwell Good-Bye Guys quartet. Growing up on the family farm gave Bob the love of gardening, mowing lawn and caring for the birds and squirrels. He also enjoyed traveling. Bob loved his Lord, church family and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
