Carol M. (Godown, Trotter) Carlson
Carol M. (Godown, Trotter) Carlson, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Dr. Terry Seufferlein will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. till the time of service at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene; her children, Christine Godown-Dykes (Donald), Jay Trotter, John Godown, Gayla Yeakle, Scott (Lisa) Carlson and Linda Carlson; 6 brothers; 1 sister; grandchildren, Brandon Beaty, Maria (Jason) Beaty-Corey, Mikka Beaty, Kristin (Eric) Daywitt, Travis Yeakle, Nichole Carlson (Brian), Andrea Carlson, Joseph (Mandy) Carlson, Kevin (Janelle) Anderson, Chad (Melissa) Anderson, Troy and Trent Krahmer, Hobbie Cook, Ryan Cook and Roy Godown; great-grandchildren, Lorianna Corey, Ryan and Anastasia Daywitt, and Alaina Shannon.
Preceding Carol in death were her parents; husband, Donald Godown; daughter, Susan Godown-Caprio; and a brother, Leonard (Duke) Williams.
Carol Mildred Williams was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, to Lawrence and Myrtle (Wyatt) Williams. She married Eugene (Swede) Carlson on Nov. 28, 2000, at the United Methodist Church, Palo.
Carol worked in food service at Mercy Hospital, First Avenue Hy-Vee, The Dragon Restaurant, Flame Room, and most recently for CRCSD, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Central Church of Christ, Eagles Aerie #2272, The Antique Club, and Model “A” Club. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol's name may be made to Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, or to the ARC of East Central Iowa.
