Foster, John William 'Johnny / John Boy'
John William Foster “Johnny/John Boy,” 71, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa to Ezra William Foster and Alma Ruth Brokaw-Foster. He married Judy Walton on Aug. 20, 1960; they divorced June 6, 1975. He married Virginia Moncrief on Nov. 29, 1980, in Monticello.
Johnny started employment at Alpha Crushed Stone in 1959, later to become Wendling Quarries, retiring due to illness on June 30, 2013. He was known for saying my hobbies are work.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; his mother, Alma Walton; children, “Boone” Daniel (Angie) Foster, Debbra (Kevin) Hebert, Wendy (Mark) LeMense, Anne Hurt, Christine Hurt, Tara Mann and Amanda Tuetken; several grandchildren; brother and sisters, Janet (Ed) Sumner, JoAnn Liggett, Dennis (Pam) Foster, Julie (Jim) Harapot and Lori (Dave) Williams; and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Johnny Lee and Brett Evan; his father; stepfather, Dale Walton; and brother, David Foster.
He above all loved his family, home and pets.
John was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who were closest to him.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Per John's request there will be no services.
