Helen C. Williams Jackson Emrich, 95, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, in Cedar Falls. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown, by the Rev. David Rempfer. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in International Cemetery, Luzerne, Iowa.
Helen was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Hartland, Minn., to Horatio Claude and Helen Belle (Adams) Williams. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1937. She married Harold Jackson in 1946. They farmed in rural Luzerne until his death. She married Charles Emrich in 1974. Helen resided in the Blairstown/Belle Plaine area until she moved to a care facility.
Helen was a member of MJ KIRBY Post No. 170 Women's Auxiliary, Grace Lutheran Church and the DAR. She played bridge and cribbage and enjoyed many card clubs/groups. Helen once celebrated a perfect cribbage hand (29)! Helen enjoyed needle crafts, was an avid reader and traveled worldwide. Helen worked in various clerical positions, but she most enjoyed working at the King Theater in Belle Plaine, from where she retired when she turned 90.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brothers, Channing, Dale and Randall; and sisters-in-law, Nancy and Flora Williams.
She is survived by her six children, Terry (Gloria) Jackson, Charlotte (Richard) Nelson, Debbie (Larry) Jackson, Jennifer (John) Perry, Quentin (Teresa) Jackson and Mark Jackson, 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Billy) Golightly; brothers, Wallace (Sally) Williams and Bruce Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Belle Plaine Area Historical Museum.
