Williams, Howard R.
Howard R. Williams, 71, of North Liberty, formerly of High Amana, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City from an extended illness. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Elders Kristie Yoder and Alan Trumpold officiating. Burial: High Amana Cemetery, High Amana. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Howard is survived by his daughters, Faith Koger and husband Tony of Davenport and Amanda Wilson and husband John of Wapello; three grandchildren, Kylie Koger, Kirah Wilson and Kari Wilson; four brothers, Levi and wife Kay Williams and Roland and wife Caroljean Williams, both of Williamsburg, Clifford and Harlan Williams, both of High Amana; three sisters, Marilyn Bradley of Vallejo, Calif., Rachel Williams of Iowa City and Lavona Mimick and husband Frank of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Melvin and James Williams; a sister, Gloria Racey; and a sister in infancy.
Howard Roy Williams was born Jan. 12, 1938, in High Amana, the son of Elver Hugo Williams and Amanda Jane Puegner Williams. He attended the Amana schools and served for two years in the U.S. Army. Howard was a plumber and worked in the Amana and Marengo areas his entire life. He was a member of American Legion Post 76.
