Tessie Williams, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died of natural causes on Friday, April 24, 2015. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Tessie was born on Nov, 2, 1922, in West Liberty, Ky. She lived most of her years in Cedar Rapids raising her family and was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church. Tessie married John B. Willard Williams in 1947. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, travel and playing cards with her grandsons.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Teresa (Mike) Fitzgerald of Waukee and Carole (Doug) Ridout of Marshalltown; five grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Delia Lyon; her husband, John B. Willard Williams; her brothers Boyd, Cecil and Von; and her sisters, Meryl, Reva and Elloise.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be directed to St. James Methodist Church.
