Richard Smith Jr., 61, died Friday, April 6, 2018, at his home following a battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Rotary Lodge at the Wapsi State Park, Anamosa. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Rick into their care.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie; his mother, Mattie Lorene Clark; and stepfather, Willard Clark; his four children, Keith, Stacy, Samantha and Steven; his three stepchildren, Christopher, Tara and Jodi; 19 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and his siblings, Vera, Lauria, Mark, Karla and Rodney.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; and a sister, Karen.
Richard Keith Smith Jr. was born May 25, 1956, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Richard and Lorraine Thomas Smith. Rick received his education in the Anamosa schools. Rick had worked as a millwright and at Corn Sweeteners, Profile Plastics and M&W Manufacturing.
Rick was an avid fisherman and hunter. In the past few years, he had taken up flint knapping, the art of making arrowheads, knives and spearheads from stone.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
