Mildred "Millie" May Wilson Freeman passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the age of 100 years and 10 months. She was born on May 18, 1917, to Jay and Nellie Cottrell Wilson in rural Buchanan County, Iowa. On Aug. 21, 1938, she married Hubert J. Freeman in Independence. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Millie passed away at the ABCM West Campus in Independence, where she had resided for the past eight and a half years.
Millie is survived by two nephews, Larry Goss and David Wilson; six nieces, Debbie Hoover, Sandra Devine, Barbara Nelson, Luanne Meader, Florence Chesmore and Judy Aller; and one brother-in-law, Jack (J.J.) Freeman of Florence, Miss. Also surviving are relatives and caregivers, Marilyn and Harold Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Lester and Robert Wilson; one sister, Blanche Goss; one nephew, Donald Wilson; and one niece, Phyllis Hacket.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, at White Funeral Home in Independence, where friends may call for visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. Visitation will continue on Monday for an hour before services.
