HAROLD CONRAD North English Harold Steven Conrad died Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at his home in North English at the age of 86 years. Harold was born March 11, 1929, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Joseph Anthony and Elenor Mary (Pollmiller) Conrad. He attended St. Mary's School in Keota, and on Oct. 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Bette Jeanne Lapham in Ottumwa. Harold served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He grew up in Keokuk County, lived and farmed in Mahaska County, and has lived in North English since 1966. Harold was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, trapping and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bette of North English; children, Stephen (Joan) Conrad of Davenport, Mary (Tim) Dunne of Elmhurst, Ill., Margaret (Steve) Manning of Williamsburg, James (Debra) Conrad of South English, John (Amy) Conrad of Kinross, Richard (Beverly) Conrad of Harper and Karen (Steve) Waite of Johnston; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Herbert and Merlin Conrad; and three sisters, Ruth Hammes, Rosemary Faulhaber and Kathleen Heisdoffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Father Sylvester Conrad; and two nephews, Thomas Hammes and Edward Tuercek. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, North English, with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Little Creek Cemetery, rural Kinross.
