Martwig, Jerry
Jerry Martwig, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, in his home. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Survivors include a son, Brent (Sarah) Martwig and their sons, Carter and Izak; and mother, Ruth Martwig, of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Larry (Marva) Martwig and children Jason and Sara of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur.
Jerry was born May 21, 1950, in Oelwein to Arthur and Ruth Martwig. He married Susan Van Hamme on August 26, 1972. They were later divorced. He was employed by Harnischfeger for several years and later for J&P Cycles. Jerry loved to learn and studied astronomy, Biblical history, philosophy, medicine and automotive repair. His 1941 Knucklehead gave him freedom. He loved to help people and assist them when needed and was appreciative of the assistance given to him.
