BARBARA J. PLOTZ
Marion
Barbara J. Plotz, 69, of Marion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, with her husband at her side, and after a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after noon. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Keosauqua Cemetery.
Barbara was born to parents Lawrence and Luella White in Sigourney on Nov. 3, 1946. She lived there on the farm until 1959 and then moved with the family to Keosauqua. She graduated from high school at Van Buren High and moved to Cedar Rapids shortly after graduation. She met and married her husband, Larry, and lived in the Cedar Rapids area. She worked and retired from Mount Mercy University.
Barbara loved growing and tending to her flowers and also loved photography and hiking. She would often take her camera to catch a good picture of a flower or a bird. She also loved traveling the world with friends in pursuit of her favorite performer, Danny O'Donnell.
She is survived by her mother, Luella White; her husband, Larry Plotz; her sister, Betty (Keith) Gordon; her brother, David (Cindy) White; and her brother-in-law, Ken (Jerry) Plotz. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews, with whom she loved to spend time.
She will be missed by all of her friends and family who were fortunate enough to have known and spent time with her.
In lieu of flowers, her family would like any memorial donations to be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
