Podolak lucky to be alive after Arizona accident, Dolphin says
Iowa sports announcer Gary Dolphin says his colleague, Ed Podolak, is lucky to be alive after being hit by a car in Arizona.
Dolphin says Podolak is in intensive care at a Scottsdale hospital. He says Podolak is recovering from injuries to the lower half of his body.
Dolphin says Podolak is in excellent physical condition and says he believes that's what saved his life.
Podolak, a former University of Iowa and Kansas City Chief football standout and current radio analyst for Iowa football, suffered serious injuries when struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near his Scottsdale hotel. Podolak and his wife, Vicki, were attending a social event Saturday in Scottsdale.
