Letter: We need to trust Trump to tell the truth

Bipartisan investigators have determined there is no evidence to back up President Donald Trump's wiretapping claims against President Barack Obama. Congressman Devin Nunes advises us that we shouldn't take the president's words literally. Then should we not have taken them literally when he falsely accused the previous president of a felony? He presented it as fact. Or was it one of his alternative facts? What is an alternative fact, but a lie?

If we cannot take the leader of the free world literally and trust him to tell us the truth, then we are in more danger than many politicians seem to be willing to admit. How can we entrust the nuclear code and the responsibility of making crucial decisions to a man who imagines and publicizes problems as facts, that in reality do not exist?
