Video: Alyssa Wiebel describes the celebration that follows hitting a home run
The Gazette

Alyssa Wiebel has hit just a few home runs in her Benton Community softball career. Sixty-one, to be exact, which ranks No. 2 all-time in the state of Iowa.
Yet rounding the bases and celebrating with her team never gets old for the Athlete of the Year finalist, who will compete collegiately at Illinois State after being named Gatorade Player of the Year.
Watch the video above to find out why, and keep an eye out the rest of this summer — Wiebel might not be done hitting long balls for the 33-2 Bobcats, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
Meet the other Athlete of the Year finalists here and look for the winner to be announced Sunday.
Teammates welcome Benton Community's Alyssa Wiebel as she crosses the plate after hitting a home run at the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's 2015 State Softball Tournament at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Thursday, July 23, 2015. (Jim Slosiarek/The Gazette)
