VAN HORNE - Donald L. Clark left the Benton Community School District voluntarily in 2001 to take a guidance counselor position in the Iowa City school district, said Gary Zittergruen, Benton Community superintendent.
There were no complaints filed against Clark by parents or students, Zittergruen said. Clark was a second-grade teacher in the district during the 1996-97 school year and a talented and gifted coordinator from 1997 to 2001.
Clark, 41, of Coralville, was charged Monday with second-degree sexual abuse. Investigators claim he abused an Iowa City Lemme Elementary School fifth grader during the 2003-04 school year.
