ERICA ELIZABETH LEWIS
Marion
God called Erica Lewis, 28, to her forever Heavenly home on April 22, 2018; viral pneumonia was too big a task to overcome. Erica delighted in big family parties, so to honor her life, the family has gathered together to celebrate her joy in Heaven. They graciously gave thanks to God for choosing Erica to become a part of the Lewis Family. The family loved Erica beyond measure. By God's unending grace, Erica now is thrilled to become our Guardian Angel until our family will flock together forever in Eternity.
Surviving Erica are her parents, Jim and Diane Lewis; and siblings, Brian (Martha) Lewis and child Sofia, Amy (Paul) Schrader and children Wyatt and Ellie; Katie Lewis, Susie (Rob) Lee and children Kate, Joshua and Evelyn, Daniel Lewis, Ben Lewis, Joseph Lewis, Nicole Lewis, Christopher Lewis, Isabelle Lewis, Maya Lewis and child Owin, Marcos Lewis, Grace Lewis, Charlie Lewis and Bruce Lewis. Also surviving are uncles and aunts, Dale and Nancy Stout, Dr. David and Belinda Downing, Dr. Dan and Carol Downing, Doug Downing; and many fun-loving cousins. Preceding her in death are her wonderful grandparents, Dr. John and Betsy Downing and Wayne and Maxine Lewis.
Erica was the first foster child who joined the Jim and Diane Lewis Family. She was a beautiful baby, just 2 years old. She gleefully joined an action-packed household full of brothers and sisters. She began to thrive. The love overflowed. Then God saw that this new family was one who would love Erica without hesitation. They had learned unabiding love through her presence. She became another "Lewis Kid."
Quickly, Erica became a "teacher" to all people around her. She taught others that a person may not talk, walk, sit up or eat, but that same person is just as important as one who invents, or heals or creates beauty through art or music, or defends others, or teaches. She taught that every person who is born is valuable with a valuable purpose from God, and that He will help them to fulfill that purpose. Above all, she taught us how to truly love unconditionally. Erica had a pure soul, unscathed by tragedies of this world. She was aware only of family love, close friendships and joy. She treasured life and always smiled with contagious love.
