It’s a good time for hindsight

The November election provides a chance to rectify terrible mistakes of the past, notably the election of 2016. Hindsight gives clarity to show how our collective choices went so wrong. If Americans didn't before they now recognize the vileness of the man and vulnerability of our democracy. It has been a real disappointment to see our senator, Joni Ernst, follow Trump's lead at nearly every turn. Like attempting to repeal coverage for preexisting conditions in the Affordable Care Act as well as repealing the complete ACA, causing thousands of Iowans to be uninsured. It is a little late for the senator to be distancing herself from him now with complicit silence.
Our democracy is at stake. We can now collectively reject hate and fear, and walk a better path, if we choose country over party, democracy over authoritarianism, and for equality all over white privilege for some. We need elected officials who care for us, collectively.
