Palmer, John D.
John D. Palmer, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009. Memorial visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
John was born May 2, 1925, in Minnesota, the son of Claude and Frances (O'Leary) Palmer. On December 9, 1974, he was united in marriage to Nancy Pettit. He worked in construction and was a member of Local 43, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; eight children, Renee (Matt) Daley, John (Joan) Palmer, Sharon Abrahamson, Tommy Palmer, Deb (Steve) McKee, Teresa (John) VeDepo, Donnie (Bonnie) Grommon and Rick (Angie) Grommon; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and six sisters.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
