John Albert Dohrer, 82, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove, with
Father Edmond Dunn officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a rosary and vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Military honors will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia; his children, Steven (Cindy) of Iowa City, Renae (James Carrell) of Palm Bay, Fla., Kevin of Coralville, Michelle (Steven) Ferguson of Greensboro, Ind., and Alicia (Dennis) O'Leary of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three half sisters.
