MARGARET "PEG" SUE WELDON
Iowa City
Margaret "Peg" Sue Weldon, 70, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by her family. A celebration of Peg's life will be held later this spring in Holbrook with burial at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of Old St. Michael's Church in Holbrook.
Peg was born Feb. 1, 1951, in Sigourney, the daughter of James "Red" and Vivian (Orris) Weldon. She was a 1969 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a graduate of Capri Cosmetology College. Peg was employed at Sheller-Globe for many years, retiring in 2013.
Peg enjoyed going to the casino. Most important was time spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and their families, who thought of Peg as their grandmother, Papa Peg or Crazy Peg.
Peg is survived by her mother, Vivian Weldon of Iowa City; seven siblings, Pat (Gary) Yauk of Iowa City, Jim (Sandy) Weldon of Oxford, Tim (Lea) Weldon of Iowa City, Jeff (Sally) Weldon of Peyton, Colo., Ron (Kathy) Weldon and Doug (Karen) Weldon, both of Parnell, and Tony (Shari) Weldon of Williamsburg; sisters-in-law, Susan (Dan) Weldon and Sharon Weldon, both of Parnell, and Helen Weldon of Iowa City; 24 nieces and nephews; 41 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece; and special friend, Kevin Magruder.
Peg was preceded in death by her father, Red; her brother, Dan; her nephew, Nick; great-nephew, Kyler; and niece, Trish.
