Lorenz Lewis Andresen, 69, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Phillips Funeral Home in
Keystone. Interment will be at the Keystone Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by Adolph H. Schueler American Legion Post 217 of Atkins. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Lorenz was born Oct. 22, 1945, near Elberon to Calvin S. and Zelda M. (Howe) Andresen, and graduated from Keystone High School in 1963. During the Vietnam War, he served his nation in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Adolph H. Schueler American Legion Post 217 of Atkins.
Lorenz worked as a painting contractor and later retired from PMX in Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed fishing, gambling and scratch-off lottery tickets and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his mother, Zelda M. Andresen of Atkins; his children, Laura Andresen of Cedar Rapids, Scott (Melissa Kauffman) of Pineville, N.C., and Troy (Mariana) Andresen of Las Cruces, N.M.; his grandchildren, Briana, Brandon, Celeste and Charlotte Andresen; his brother, Harlin (Rosie) Andresen of Cedar Rapids; nephew, Darin (Megan) Andresen; niece, Danielle (Dan) Rauser; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin, in 2005; and his son, Lorenz Andresen Jr., in 1967.
