Patrick, Albert Keith
Albert Keith Patrick, a Northbrook Manor resident, formerly of Des Moines, passed away March 31, 2010. According to his wishes there will be no visitation. A private family service with military honors will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Albert was born Nov. 22, 1922, in rural Monroe County. He spent most of his life in Des Moines, Iowa. Following his military service in the U.S. Army during World War II he returned to Des Moines, where he worked in industry and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1987. He married Edna Lillian Wright Peterson in 1959. They were married for 46 years until Edna's death in 2005.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Geilda “Jill” Peterson; his stepson, Jack Peterson; three grandsons, Daniel, Zachariah and Benjamin Peterson; one granddaughter, Amy Peterson; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Pauline Blakeslee, Dorothy Ryan and Helen Chalfant.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Edna; his parents; his brothers, Joseph, George and Theodore; and his sisters, Anna Adair, Elizabeth Patrick and Marianna Kruetzer.
Albert was an excellent bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed cabinetry for many years and built most of the furniture in his and Edna's home. He enjoyed watching sports and following politics.
His family and friends will miss him.
