Patrick (Pat) David Hamer, 53, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Services: noon Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Philip Thompson. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pat is survived by his son, Ian; his parents, Morgan and Jeanette; four brothers, Douglas (Denise Alger), Michael (Paula), Mark (Sue) and Gary (Christy Lanier); a sister, Teresa (Larry) Smith; his special friend, Mary Kay Frary, all of Cedar Rapids; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and Ian's mother, Traci and Shawn Robinson.
Patrick was born March 4, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Morgan and Jeanette Hamer. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1980. Pat joined the Navy and was stationed at Port Mugo in California and spent several years at McMurdo Station in the Antarctic. He worked at Rockwell Collins for many years and also worked for Richard Pinney as a wood sculptor and has several of his sculptures on display in Cedar Rapids.
Pat was an outdoorsman who loved bicycling, kayaking and fishing. His greatest joy was sharing activities with his son.
