Patrick, Gary L.
Gary L. Patrick, 65, of the Broken Spur Ranch, Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, from congestive heart failure. Gary's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley View Baptist Church, rural Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Keith Pitts. Gary's viewing and visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church. Gary will be buried at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery, with military rites.
Surviving Gary are his wife, Evett; a daughter, Crystal Lee Strickland of Eagle Grove, Iowa; and four brothers, Larry, Jerry, Terry and Harry Patrick. Also surviving Gary are many grandchildren.
Preceding Gary in death were his parents, Everett and Harrietta (Heopf) Patrick.
Gary was born March 1, 1945, in Louisiana, Mo., and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1964. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Gary moved to Linn County from Bowling Green in 1980. Valley View Baptist Church was his home church which he dearly loved.
A memorial fund for Gary is established.
