Shannon, Patrick
Patrick Shannon, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Survivors include his children, James, Cliff and Sean Shannon and Nikkole Curtis, all of Cedar Rapids; sister, Eva Taggart of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Rylee, Reign, Jaden, Sarah, Amira, Skye, James Jr., Kiley and Haven; nephew, Jason Taggart; special friend, Nina Curtis; and his cats, Buddy and Red.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Jr.; and his beloved cat, Ella Mae.
Patrick was born Aug. 20, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, to James and Valerie Shannon. He married Rose Gulick on July 17, 1971. They were later divorced. Patrick served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1985 to 1988. He was employed as a truck driver. Patrick was a friend of Bill W.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Due to recent construction, it is required that visitors to Cedar Memorial enter making a right turn from west bound First Avenue (heading toward downtown).
