Patrick was born Sept. 7, 1966, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Rose (Naumann) Marzen. He was raised in Nashua, Iowa and was a 1985 graduate of Nashua High School. Following high school, Patrick attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he went on to earn his B.A. and M.A. degrees, graduating in 1992. Patrick was a person who was full of life. He loved talking with people and was willing to lend a hand whenever necessary. He was a very determined person who had many strong convictions. Patrick enjoyed buying tools, woodworking, hunting, going to garage sales, playing cards and pulling practical jokes on people. Most importantly, Patrick loved his family and truly embraced being a dad.
He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and one who always tried to make the most out of life.
Survivors include his wife, Susan (Deutmeyer); and their three sons, Luke, Jacob and William, all at home in North Liberty; five brothers, Phil of Maquoketa, Greg of Durham, N.C., Dan (Jeri) of Grinnell, Dean (Kim) of Charles City and Doug of Iowa City; and three sisters, Carmel (Myron “Pete”) Hall of Cedar Falls, Connie (Pat) Tapp of Nashua and Kathy (Tim) Beckler of Tipton.
