E. Harlan DeSotel, 81, formerly of Anamosa, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, in Mission, Texas, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday April 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie DeSotel; his children, John (Vicky) DeSotel of Oelwein, Susan (Mike) Pasker, Donald DeSotel and Steven (Connie) DeSotel, all of Manchester; his grandchildren, Mitchell DeSotel, Angela DeSotel, Stacy Pasker, Amy Willey, Daniel DeSotel, Tiffany DeSotel, Tarah DeSotel, Ryan DeSotel and Shelby DeSotel; and his great-grandchildren, Christopher DeSotel, Landen DeSotel, Bryce Willey and Carson Willey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings,; Edward, Eldon, Helen, Birdena, Clarence, Edwin and Cora.
Harlan was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Edward and Blanche (Maeder) DeSotel. He married Marjorie Johnson on Jan. 19, 1985, in Anamosa, Iowa. Harlan was a driver for H & W Motor Express. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa, Eagles Club in Dubuque and Local No. 421 Union Teamster.
