Donovan's life was tragically cut short on Friday, March 4, 2016, at age 46 in Tempe, Ariz.
He was born in Grand Forks, N.D. He graduated from Kennedy High School, Class of 1988 and was educated at Kirkwood Community College and Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a focus on math and science.
Donovan worked for 22 years at Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo.
Donovan loved his family and friends and showed this love by entertaining them in his home, RV and pontoon boat. He further showed this love and joy by cooking and grilling at family gatherings to bring people together. He loved traveling, photography and the latest technology.
He was beloved by all who knew him, and his memory will always be cherished.
Donovan married Kim Rife Arneson on Aug. 26, 2000, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton. They raised five children together.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Rife Arneson; son, and daughter, Jordan and Rachel Arneson; stepchildren, Brandi, Blake and Ben Holten; his parents, Dean and Linda Arneson; mother-in-law, Mary Rife; siblings, Kris (Rod) Vick and Tara (Alonzo) Cruz; nephew, Trevor; niece, McKenzie; sister-in-law, Robin (Dave) Rife-Yancey; nephew, Jonathan; and niece, Morgan.
Kim and her family would like to invite Donovan's friends and family to a celebration of life on Friday, March 18, at Ludmila Hall, 211 21st Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404, from 5 to 9 p.m.
