Robert Barger, 89, of Marion, formerly of Manchester, entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. Respecting Bob's wishes, no visitation or service will take place. Private family burial will be at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Bob worked at Barger's Shoe Store in Manchester before and after military service in the Army from 1945 to 1947. After marriage, he started Barger Construction until retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Anita; son, Denny (Shirley) Barger of Midlothian, Va.; daughter, Denna Kris Vanourny of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren, Corey Barger of San Diego, Calif., and Sara Vanourny and Allison Vanourny of Cedar Rapids.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Meritt and Martha Barger; and a brother, Bill Barger.
