What's your story? Here are some ideas as spring approaches

I've spent a lot of time writing about and talking to high school journalists in this space and in “From the Corner Chair,” my blog at www.TheGazette.com.
Today's “Your Page” features the talents of one of those high school students, Williamsburg senior McCall Meade. She was the first to contact me about becoming a high school contributor and the first to submit stories for www.IowaPrepSports.com.
She was the first quarterly winner in our drawing, earning an iPad.
While we continue to seek more stories, photos and videos from high school students in and beyond Eastern Iowa, we also want community content - stories, photos and video from parents, recreation enthusiasts, clubs and organizations.
We've had a lot of success so far - Lisa Paulos has written twice about “snow ultra” events, Erin Moeller wrote about her buildup, injury and disappointment at the Olympic Marathon Trials and, last week, Michelle Barker wrote about mountain biking opportunities in the area.
We'd like to have more.
We are getting closer to consistent warmer weather after this incredibly mild winter and many of you will be heading outside to run, bike, hike, golf, play softball or baseball. Maybe you are a spectator who enjoys watching the Kernels or traveling to Major League ballparks, going to golf events or race tracks around Eastern Iowa. Maybe you'll head to Kansas City in April to watch a Sprint Cup event.
What is your passion? What is your story?
All of these could make interesting stories, whether it's something you are doing or something you are watching.
Here are some ideas to consider as we begin a new month:
l The boys' state basketball tournament starts its weeklong run Monday. The IHSAA is commemorating the 100th year of the tournament and we want your stories and photos from your schools, as well as your favorite memories.
- NCAA wrestling and basketball tournaments will take place this month in all three divisions. What's it like watching these events from the stands?
- Are you training for the April 16 Boston Marathon? Tell us about your buildup, then report after the race and tell us how it went.
- Local auto racing tracks shift into gear in April, too. Do you race at or are you a regular at Hawkeye Downs, West Liberty Raceway or Benton County Speedway - to name just a few? Write about it and send us your photos and video each week.
- Going to the Masters? What's it like to watch one of the world's most prestigious events from behind the ropes?
These are just a few of the things happening as we approach spring. I'm sure you have other ideas.
So what's your story?
It's getting close to that time of year where running events will be held every weekend. Where will you be running, what is your favorite race, are you training for the Boston Marathon? Let us know. This is from last year's Bix 7 in Davenport. (AP Photo/Quad City Times/Kevin E. Schmidt)
