Ashley, Mildred M.
Mildred M. Ashley, 98, Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial of cremated remains will take place at the Garden of the Cross. Arrangements made by Cedar Memorial.
Survivors include Sharon Ullrick, niece, who was like a daughter; Trudie Ashley, niece, who was very helpful in many ways; Terry Ashley, nephew; Pat Ashley, niece; Tom Ashley, nephew; Ashley DeMario, niece; Linda Hausen, niece; and Slayton Thompson.
Also, a special great-nephew, who was with Mildred when she passed away, Erick M. Thompson; special friends, Delores Pine and family; and the Tuttles at Silver Pines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Phoebe Ashley; sister, Wanda Ross; and brothers, Harold and Gerald (Gib).
Mildred was born on Dec. 14, 1912, in Delta, Iowa, and moved to Cedar Rapids in the 1930s. She worked at Great Plains Gas Company for 35 years. Her passion was reading and she loved family time. She volunteered at St. Luke's for years and was a blood donor.
Mildred (Aunt Mil) was a grand, elegant lady. She will truly be missed and our lives won't ever be the same.
The family would like to extend thanks to the nurses on the 5th floor of St. Luke's Hospital for the loving way they took care of Aunt Mil.
