Nancy J. Barnhart, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Per Nancy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private committal service will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Nancy was born June 8, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Carmen) Rusch. She was united in marriage to Loren Barnhart on Sept. 11, 2004, in Cedar Rapids. Nancy worked at Iowa Manufacturing for 24 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Nancy enjoyed cooking and reading cookbooks. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Loren Barnhart of Marion; two daughters, Teresa (Tim) Tyrrell of Sarasota, Fla., and Bobbie (Tom) Slaughter of Cedar Rapids; son, Joseph Burris of Colorado; two grandsons, Thomas (Paige Parvin) Slaughter and Nathan Slaughter; granddaughter, Emily Slaughter; sister, Ruth (Duane) Grau of Cedar Rapids; brother, Robert (Lisa) Rusch of Ottumwa; two nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Thomas Clark.
