NORTH LIBERTY — A $1 million winning Powerball ticket was sold this week at a North Liberty convenience store, Iowa Lottery officials said.
The winning ticket, purchased from Kum & Go, 610 N. Kansas Ave., won in Powerball's Wednesday night drawing, according to a news release from the Iowa Lottery. The person who purchased the winning ticket has not come forward to claim the prize.
Wednesday's numbers were 8-18-27-29-60; the Powerball was 15 and the Power Play number was 2.
According to lottery officials, the winning ticket matched the first five numbers, but missed the Powerball number, to earn a piece of Wednesday's $80 million jackpot.
No ticket matched all six numbers. The ticket purchased in North Liberty was the only $1 million winning ticket in the country, lottery officials said.
The winner must claim the prize at Iowa Lottery headquarters, 13001 University Ave. in Clive, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lottery officials can be reached by calling (515) 725-7900.
Kum & Go is to receive a $1,000 bonus from Iowa Lottery for selling a winning ticket at one of its stores.
This is the fifth instance this year where a ticket purchased in Iowa has won at least $1 million, according to lottery officials. A $2 million Powerball prize, purchased in Cedar Rapids on July 16, still remains unclaimed.
