Iona G. Madden, 89, of rural Oxford, died at her former home surrounded by those she loved and who dearly loved her on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020.
Her family would like to thank all those with hospice for their compassionate care that made her last days with her family meaningful, peaceful and very much right.
Iona Genevieve Beckler was born April 21, 1931, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Perry and Velma (Bawel) Beckler. Her family moved to Iowa where she attended schools in Sharon Center. She married Lyle Madden on July 2, 1950, in Iowa City. The couple lived in Tiffin until building their home just outside of Oxford in 1971. In addition to caring for her husband and their 10 children, she enjoyed working outside the home in the Amana School District and also at Jon's Ice Cream stop in Tiffin.
Her family which was her life includes her children, Deborah Stratton (Gary), Audrey Ryan (Mike), Rebecca Stienkruger (Greg), Roxanne Wonbacher (Steve), Jerry Madden (Dawn), Randy Madden (Adelia), Rodney Madden (Bette), Scott Madden (Julie) and Kirk Madden (Renee); 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Wieland; and brothers, Cleo, Perry and Elmer Beckler.
Iona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle; son, John Edward; and grandson, Lucas James.
