Wiley, Cheryl J.
Cheryl J. Wiley, 61, of Palo, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, in her home following a battle with adenocarcinoid cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Cedar Hills Community Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, also at the church. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Dennis; her children, Kimberly Wiley of Covington, Denny Wiley of Palo, and Maria (Jarrod) Marks of Palo; her grandchildren, Andrew Walton, Kelsey Walton, Brandon Wiley, Jayden Wiley, Steven Marks, Katy Marks, Harlee Marks and Megan Marks; one great-granddaughter, Emma Walton; her parents, Harry and Jessie Christy of Cedar Rapids; her siblings, Jeanie (John) Mitchell of Atkins, Barbara Orr of Texas, Peggy (Michael) Davis of Virginia, Donald (Lorie) Christy of Marengo, and Deborah (Jim) Twesten of Missouri; her mother and father-in-law, John and Donna Wiley of Cedar Rapids; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Cheryl June Wiley was born June 17, 1950, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harry R. and Jessie J. (Adams) Christy. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Dennis R. Wiley on April 6, 1968, in Cedar Rapids. She worked along side her family for the last 40 years on their farm near Palo. She was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church, Freedom Trikers and the El Kahir Shrine Auxiliary.
Cheryl enjoyed crocheting, painting and being surrounded by her family. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Nabi and all of the caring nurses of Oncology Associates and Hospice for their care and guidance during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Cheryl's honor may be made to Cedar Hills Community Church.
