Thomas Kelly, 79, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Burial: Kisling Cemetery near Urbana. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; his sons, Thomas of Newton, Forest Brian (Angela) of Texas, and Kevin (Lorraine) of Wisconsin; his daughter, Kristine Zenz (Jeff Graham) of Waterloo; his nine grandchildren, Ryan, Kara (Matt), Alexa, Katie (Aaron), Corey, Forest (Brandon), Shawn, Mariah and Patrick; and his great-grandsons, Brezlin, 4, Bronson, 1, and Motsinger and Theo Ungs, 5 months.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Marilyn and Eleanor; and a brother, James.
Tom was born on April 9, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo Kelly and Mary Noble. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae Brody on Dec. 31, 1959. Thomas graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. He always enjoyed attending class reunions. Following graduation, Thomas served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Shriners. Thomas enjoyed camping, tinkering in his garage and time spent with his friends, family and especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Thomas' name.
