Darlene M. Walker, 79, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Deb Black. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert; her daughters, Julie (Tim) Havlicek of Cedar Rapids, Joy (Mike) Huber of Walford, Jennifer (Steve) Mehlert of Belle Plaine and Jill (Gary) Scheer of Blairstown; grandchildren, Tara Primasing (Wes Windham), Joel (Christine) Havlicek, Jason (Rachel) Huber, Jenna (Tom) Langhurst, Morgan Mehlert, Blake (Lisa) Scheer, Bryer Scheer and Brody Scheer; great-grandchildren, Ashtin, Rafe, Brinley, Camden, Jayden, Reagan, Owen, Emmett and Cora; sisters-in-law, Helen Kuebler and Beverly Whiton; and brothers-in-law, Richard Walker and Gale Whiton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob and Don Kuebler; sister, Fern Eldean; and dog, Joey.
Darlene was born Dec. 4, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Elsie Mae (Gunion) Kuebler, in Manning, Iowa. A 1954 graduate from Perry High School, she was united in marriage to Robert Walker on May 25, 1957, at First Christian Church in Perry, Iowa. Darlene worked for Benton Community school district as a secretary and also Atkins Savings Bank and Mutual of Omaha.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Ladies Guild at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Atkins and Red Hat Ladies and was a Girl Scout leader in Atkins.
Darlene loved her family and enjoyed reading, needle point, traveling, cooking, music, singing and wintering in Texas.
She was a loving mom and grandma who showed her family her faith in the Lord. Darlene loved to experience life.
Memorials may be directed to Salem United Methodist Church or Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in memory of Darlene.
