Burgess, Cleo C.
Cleo C. Burgess, 107, went to be with our Lord on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at her granddaughter, Tammy (Chad) Stein's, home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St. in Vinton, with the Rev. Jim Blair officiating. Interment will be held at Kisling Cemetery, rural Urbana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Cleo was born Nov. 23, 1905, in Urbana to Eli and Lucinda (Brody) Culver. Oct. 19, 1924, she was united in marriage to Frank Burgess.
She loved her family dearly and enjoyed crocheting and crafts, making mittens for children at school and her grandchildren. She enjoyed having company and playing cards. She will be missed by all of her family and friends. She was the oldest living member of the Brody clan.
She is survived by her children, Rosetta Meister of Cedar Rapids, Danny (Vickie) Burgess, Steve Burgess and Jean Noggle, all of Vinton; 17 grandchildren; a large number of great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; her daughter, Vivian Mae Musil; five grandsons; a granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; four brothers; four sisters and many nieces and nephews.
