Waldo "Wally" Ellis Saddoris, 74, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial: Urbana, Iowa.
Wally was born Dec. 3, 1941, to Harry and Stella (Wilcox) Saddoris in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Urbana High School in Urbana, Iowa, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. He worked at GE Phone in Sarasota, Fla., for 28 years until his retirement. Wally enjoyed traveling and pheasant hunting with his family. He was a very lucky gambler, and when he was younger he liked to ride motorcycles. Wally was a worldly traveler. He went to 37 countries and 48 states. He was a Vietnam veteran who served his country for seven years, three months and 27 days. Wally had a love of God, country and his Iowa roots.
Wally is survived by his son, Bobbie Saddoris; daughter, Kelly Hohlman; brother, Steve (Carol) Saddoris of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Stella Ann (Keith) Rick of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Margo (Bob) Gates of Brandon, Iowa; special friend, Carolyn Morrissey of Marion; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janyce Kisling; and brother, Edgar Saddoris.
