Wegher named in custody suit
Former Iowa running back Brandon Wegher has been named in a petition to establish legal custody, visitation and child support in Woodbury County District Court, records show.
Megan Glisar, 20, has asked that she be given sole legal custody and care of the son she had with Wegher, 20. Court records say the boy was born Nov. 4, 2010.
Glisar, a former high jumper on the Iowa women's track team from Sergeant Bluff, has asked that child support be based on "imputed income" to Wegher. The claim is that Wegher's earning capacity is far greater than his income. Wegher's father, Rick, is president of Wegher Construction Company and WD Homes, which builds upscale developments in Sioux City and Dakota Dunes, S.D.
The petition also asks that Wegher, who is named on his son's birth certificate, pay for the plaintiff's legal fees and for birthing and medical expenses.
Wegher left the Iowa football team after two days of fall practice. He sat out the entire 2010 season after a promising freshman year, when he rushed for 641 yards and a freshman record eight TDs, including the clincher in Iowa's Orange Bowl victory over Georgia Tech.
Wegher asked for and received his release for transfer in December. He walked on at Oklahoma in January, but left the team just more than a week ago.
“Yeah, he's not with us anymore,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops told reporters. “That didn't last real long.”
