Norma Jean Anderson, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Pastor Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., in Vinton.
A memorial fund has been established.
Norma Jean Kisling was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Urbana to Vernon and Dorothy (Gray) Kisling and graduated from the Urbana High School. On March 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to George Anderson in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1986.
Norma Jean was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton. Before her retirement, she was employed at the City Clerk's office in Vinton.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Pennie) Anderson of Independence and Bruce (Beverly) Anderson of Vinton; her grandchildren, Matt Anderson, Holly (Mike) Ollinger, Lisa (Eric) Marter, Anna Anderson and Chad (Allison) Anderson; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim (Marlene) Kisling of Arizona; her sister, Joan (Donald) Felker of Urbana; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Kisling of Vinton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; and her brother, Freddie Kisling.
