Gosnell, Dennis D. 'Goose'
Dennis D. “Goose” Gosnell, 57, of Solon, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Military Honors by the Solon American Legion will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Veterans Memorial at American Legion Park in Solon. A reception to celebrate Dennis's life will then follow at the Solon American Legion.
Dennis was born May 31, 1953, in Iowa City, the son of Howard and Ruth (Wardenburg) Gosnell. On July 15, 1978, he married Katherine Wise in Iowa City. He was a 1971 graduate of City High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.
Dennis was a pipe fitter for 20 years with Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He had served on the Solon City Council and was a proud member of Stinocher American Legion Post 460 and the American Legion Riders.
Dennis was a biker in every sense of the word. All brothers are welcome to ride.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Katherine Wise-Gosnell; and their two children, Tumara Leigh (Shaun) Rogers of Denver, Colo., and Tyson (Candace) Gosnell of Shellsburg; four grandchildren, Coltin, Tristin, Gage and Jayden; his brothers, Dale (Sue) Gosnell of Conroy and Steven Gosnell of Atalissa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the Dennis Gosnell Memorial Fund has been established.
