CARL MARVIN "GUS" KISLING

Carl Marvin "Gus" Kisling, 79, of Marengo, formerly of Urbana and Conroy, died Sunday, June 26, 2016. Celebration of Life: noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 2, Don Bosco Hall, Urbana, where a light lunch will be served. The family requests casual attire. A memorial fund has been established.
Carl Marvin was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Urbana, to Carl W. and Florence (Edmonds) Kisling. He graduated from Urbana High School in 1956. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing Co. in Cedar Rapids before entering the U.S. Army in November 1959 until February 1962.
He was united in marriage to Carol Swordes Gille at Urbana Christian Church on July 21, 1963. Gus worked as a mechanic at Bach Motors then owned and operated Kisling Motors from 1975 to 1979. He worked at Amana Manufacturing Co. from 1970 until retiring in 1999.
Gus was a member of the Urbana Legion for more than 22 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, camping, watching racing and wrestling, cook-outs, country music, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Gus is survived by his wife, Carol (Gille); his children, Carl A. "Tony" (Karen) Kisling and Clarice (Brian) Goodhall, all of Marengo, David (Sherri) Kisling of Amana, and Donald (Anjelica) Kisling of Vinton; 10 grandchildren; his brothers, Loren (Eva) of Marion, Dale (Kathie) of Cedar Falls and Gary (Bev) of Center Point; and his faithful dog, Skeeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lyle; and one grandson, Donald M. Kisling.
