Follas, Mary Ann Lepke
Mary Ann Lepke Follas, 90, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. At Mary's requests, no services will be held. Private burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City at a later date.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials to Mercy Hospice or Iowa City Hospice.
Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.
Born Nov. 6, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Fern (McPherson) Lepke, Mary was raised in Toledo and graduated from DeVilbiss High School. She attended Davis Business College in Toledo, later working for Ohio Gas Co. and Owens Illinois Glass Co., both in Toledo. On Sept. 19, 1942, Mary married J.D. Follas in Sylvania, Ohio. The family moved to Iowa City in 1958.
Mary was a volunteer with Mercy Hospital's Mercy Guild and was a past member of the University Club, Elks Lodge and Iowa City Women of the Moose.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.
Mary is survived by her husband, J.D.; a daughter, Patricia A. Harvey and her husband, James; and a son, William R. Follas; a grandson, William Bradley Follas; a granddaughter, Michelle R. Follas; and great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Mikayla and Jayden.
Her parents, a brother and a sister preceded her in death.
