Marjorie Ann Davis, 91, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids. Per Marjorie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial gathering: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the funeral home conducted by Chaplain Deb Black. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Marjorie is survived by
her son, Keith Davis of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Darla (Wayne) Bauer of Marion; grandchildren, Bradley Davis of Alburnett, Travis Davis and J. D. Davis, both of Cedar Rapids, and Adam Bauer of Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ezekiel, Zionica, Hannah, Caroline, Jack and Troy; brother-in-law, Ralph Gonsales of Cedar Rapids; and nieces, Denise (David) Leubka of Williamsburg and Michelle Gonsales of Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald K. Davis; parents, Louis and Viola Mekota; and sister, Dorothy Gonsales.
Marjorie was born March 23, 1925, the daughter of Louis William and Viola Mae (Beadle) Mekota. She graduated from Marion High School. On Oct. 8, 1949, in Marion, she married Donald Davis. Marjorie worked many years for MidAmerican Energy, formerly known as Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company, before staying at home to raise her two children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
