Jack W. Frisk, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. A Celebration of Life service with military honors, will take place in the spring. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is caring for Jack and his family.
Jack was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Lee Frisk and Jennie Emma (Westfall) Frisk. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953. He married Joan May Cupp on July 2, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. With this union, they had a son Jack "Bart" Frisk.
Joan passed on Jan. 26, 1994. Jack then married Lois Fields McGrew on May 6, 2000, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight for many years, retiring in 1992. Jack enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to country music and playing music with friends, time spent at his former Lake of the Ozarks home in Missouri and Christmas Eve dinners with friends at the Dragon restaurant. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anybody that needed help. He was always the life of the gatherings and could tell stories.
Jack is survived by his wife, Lois of Cedar Rapids; son, Bart (Melanie) Frisk of Swisher; grandchildren, Jayme (David Bates) Derek Frisk; two great-grandchildrenm Jenni and Jakob; two great-great- grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Lynn.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan; step-children, Terry, Randy and Lou Ann; sisters, Opal Brasch and Ailene; and brothersm Keith (wife Lela), Harley and Kenneth.
