Scouting Report: West seeks an historic third consecutive Class 4A state championship. Only Davenport (1950-52) has accomplished a three-peat at the big-school level. The Trojans have won five titles (1977, 1998, 2000, 2012, 2013) and would move into a tie for third best all-time with a sixth. Coach Steve Bergman has won four championships and a fifth would move him into third all-time. Valley Coach Jeff Horner, who played collegiately at Iowa, is being inducted into the IHSAA Basketball Hall of Fame as a player at halftime of Saturday night's game. Valley has won it all once (1993) ... West's Wyatt Lohaus has scored 22 and 16 points, respectively, in West's two tourney games, a 69-51 quarterfinal win over Southeast Polk and 49-46 semifinal win over Bettendorf. He is a Northern Iowa signee and four-year starter ... A seventh seed, Valley stunned Dubuque Senior in the quarters, 42-41, then brushed past Sioux City North in the semis, 53-49. The Tigers have been led by Turner Scott, who had 20 points against North.
