Hansen, Towns, Smith are unanimous MVC picks

Jaclyn Spencer of Waterloo West and Sydney Tigges of Dubuque Senior were named the softball divisional players of the year in the Mississippi Valley Conference, as voted by the coaches.

Maddie Hansen and Hannah Towns of Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Taleah Smith of Iowa City West were unanimous first-team selections in the Valley Division. Spencer was the lone unanimous pick in the Mississippi Division.

Joe Yegge of Cedar Rapids Prairie and Justin Lutjen of Iowa City West were the coaches of the year in their respective divisions. Both led their teams to divisional championships.

West had five first-teamers in the Valley Division, Jefferson four.
