Dorothy Mae Gearhart was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Cascade, Iowa, to Ralph and Mae (O'Connell) Gearhart. She married F. Wayne Tipton on Oct. 4, 1952, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2010.
She worked as a supervisor at Rockwell Collins, was a daycare provider and was a housekeeping supervisor at Northbrook Manor.
