LESTER STUEFEN Covinton Lester Stuefen, 90, of Covington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, in his home. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Private family interment with military rites will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Lester was born June 13, 1930, in Brookings, S.D., the son of Fred and Bessie (Youngmon) Stuefen. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Lester was united in marriage to Darlene Seltrecht on June 21, 1955, in Kahoka, Mo. He worked as a truck service manager at Rapids Chevrolet and later owned and operated Stuefen Construction for many years. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making homemade maple syrup and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. Lester is survived by his wife, Darlene; his daughter, Kerri Stuefen (Tim Horn); his grandsons, Chase and Logan Hannen; his sister, Sis Turkington; his sisters-in-law, Marlys Stuefen and Sandy Stuefen; his brother-in-law, Earl (Pat) Seltrecht; as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; his son, Norman Stuefen; his brothers, Robert, Pug and Don Stuefen; his brother-in-law, Carl "Turk" Turkington; and his sister-in-law, Betty Stuefen.
